I had read about a javascript multi-direction hover design pattern a few weeks ago via veerle’s blog, but at the time had a difficult time understanding how it could be potentially useful and/or interesting in implementation. Why, I wondered, would you want the hover state to be different depending upon the direction in which you entered the rollover?

Then today while browsing designs on creattica, I clicked through to The Agency WordPress Theme which has implemented the pattern quite well. Roll over any of the thumbnails to see that the associated text animates in from the side of the thumbnail on which your mouse cursor originated, and animates out opposite the direction your mouse leaves. While the effect does not really serve a functional purpose, (it’s a fairly simple an innocuous enhancement) I think it really adds a nice finishing touch.

If you are like me, you are pretty excited about the Academy Awards on Sunday. Upon my daily online news scan I was a little surprised to see Twitter in many of the Oscar news articles listed. It seems that social media (Twitter in particular) is predicted to be busier than usual on Sunday.

I stumbled upon this article by WebProNews and it’s an interesting read!

The past month at Tuesday has been a whirlwind of excitement due to the launch of our new iPad app, Kandoobi – Animal Edition!

Developed by our R&D team, Tuesday Labs, it’s an app geared towards the toddler and preschool crowd.  It features four independent modes:  letters, coloring, scratch & fill, and matching.  The programming side of things gave our developers some interesting challenges, but we also kept the art team on their toes by creating a whole world of characters.  The app features over 100 animals that span obvious picks like dogs and cats, but also includes some more interesting animals like manatees, anteaters and we couldn’t resist a honey badger.   We’ve tested it with several classrooms of kids ranging from 18 months on up to 5 years old and it’s been a big hit.    We have several 5 star ratings on the App store and we’d love to see more – download it today and let us know what you think!

Hello pigskin fans!

Not only is the Super Bowl going high tech with it’s very own social media command center (read all that that here). But can social media even predict the big winner? Those at MotiveQuest seem to think so! Check out their appearance on Fox News to hear them explain…
