There are only so many options for food near our office, especially for a vegan like myself. I’ve sampled some of the local restaurants – most of my food budget goes to HealthyCa every month – but I can only eat at the same restaurants over and over for so long.

With a new food truck on the streets every day (or so it seems), I’d taken it upon myself to harass one of my favorite food trucks, Mandoline Grill, on Twitter, in hopes that they’d park their glorious green truck in front of 5200 Lankershim.  Thankfully they were totally down to give NoHo a go!  Here is the lowdown on the trucks we’ve lured into our neighborhood.

Mandoline Grill makes awesome Vietnamese street food for everyone. Egg rolls, cold noodle dishes, and my favorite – the banh mi sandwich – a fresh baguette filled with pickled carrots and daikon, cucumbers, cilantro, mayonnaise and meat or tofu. Mandoline Grill has come back to NoHo several times to aid me stuffing my face and in putting myself into a food coma.

Dainty Cakes usually comes to NoHo with Mandoline Grill, so if you have any space in your belly left for dessert there is a variety of cupcakes and other sweet treats available! During their last visit they had cake balls dipped in chocolate. Say WHAT!

The Border Grill Truck also recently cruised to Tuesland to serve up some delicious Mexican food – including tacos, quesadillas, and ceviche (oh my!) I went with the avocado tacos – fried avocado crusted in quinoa and amaranth topped with salsa, sweet corn and pickled onion, and a side of cumin fries. The service was fast and the ingredients are fresh. The Border Grill is the brainchild of Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger (of Top Chef Masters fame) so you know you’re in for a treat. Just be sure you don’t leave your leftover guac in the company refrigerator because after one day it starts to look pretty gross.

Another awesome food truck that’s come to the Valley for lunch is the FrySmith. They have yet to stop in front of Tuesday Creative but they were in Studio City recently so I went ahead and took a mini field trip in search of some noms. And I definitely found some!  The FrySmith offers sweet potato and regular fries, and they have several different topping options. I got my sweet potato fries slathered in vegan chili & cheese – it was definitely a treat and I’m not ashamed to admit I ate all of them in one sitting. The only problem is the much needed/wanted nap afterward could not be had.  Hopefully they listen to my suggestion of parking around the Magnolia/Lankershim area so all of my coworkers can enjoy their greasy goodness.

I should also mention that the Grilled Cheese Truck stopped by, but I couldn’t eat anything from it so I didn’t go. Boo! Plenty of people seemed to be super-duper excited about it, though, and I hear the line was crazy.

Any other Food Trucks we should target? Let us know what you think!
