In the main hall, you can encounter the upcoming offerings from the various movie and television studios, check out genuine and recreated props, purchase collectible toys and artwork (including Christmas ornaments!) or get that Merlotte’s Bar and Grill waitress T-shirt your wife would just die for (Sarah loves it!).

This summer we all cooled off at a little bash hosted at Chuck’s place. We stocked up on wine, beer and cocktails and brought in a made-to-order taco stand. After everyone warmed up with a few beverages, we got things going with a dozen different Minute to Win It challenges. Competition got pretty fierce and most of those challenges are way harder than they look, but they are way more fun than they look, too! Top prize was a tie between Barry and David, who were the only two to successfully complete all 12 challenges. It was a great afternoon that spilled over into a great evening. Nearly 200,000 people descended upon Las Vegas for this year’s 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show and the show had something for everyone whether you passion for tablets, electric cars, home health devices, 3D televisions or a variety of a million carrying cases for your gadgets of choice. Tablets were the talk of the show as the Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy and BlackBerry PlayBook among others, all set their sights on dethroning the Apple’s iPad in 2011.

It’s kind of funny and kind of sad that it’s taken me this long to finally make it out to MAGIC given the various ties I have to it. But I finally bit the bullet and made time for it this go around, and I’m glad I did. So what is MAGIC you might ask? The MAGIC Marketplace is a three-day fashion industry event that takes place twice a year (February and August) in Las Vegas. It’s considered one of the biggest and most influential fashion events in the country. MAGIC is essentially divided into eight different sub-shows plus one accompanying show, POOL.
* MAGIC MENSWEAR
Fashionable menswear that you’d find at Macy’s or Nordstrom such as Perry Ellis, Dockers, and Johnston & Murphy.
* WWDMagic
Fashionable womenswear such as BCBGMAXAZRIA, DKNY, Diane von Furstenberg, and Miss Sixty.
* FN Platform
Full range of women’s, men’s, junior’s and kid’s shoe brands under one roof.
* PROJECT
Stylish and contemporary men’s and women’s brands such as Ben Sherman, Lacoste, Addidas, Diesel, Nooka, and Joe’s Jeans.
* S.L.A.T.E.
Select. Lifestyle. Apparel. Trend. Emergence. A small selection of established men’s and women’s brands within the skate, street, and surf community such as X-Large, Obey, Stussy, TokiDoki and Skullcandy.
* STREET
Young men’s brands such as Rocawear, Ecko and Tapout that target hip hop culture, sportswear, and streetwear.
* PREMIUM
Contemporary men’s denim, sportswear, and accessory brands such as Ed Hardy, Levis, Fossil and Lucky Brand Jeans.
* Sourcing at Magic
Apparel and footwear supply chain manufacturers, textile resources, fabric mills, and component suppliers.
* POOLTRADESHOW
Fresh and creative brands that you’d find in more boutique shops and have yet to establish themselves in the major markets plus a few established lifestyle brands such as American Apparel, Palmer Cash, and Threadless.

Last month the 2010 Cable Show took center stage at the LA Convention Center giving top executives from cable operators, content producers, distribution networks and technology companies a chance to get together and explore the continually evolving industry. Of course a bevy of cable celebrities were also there to provide entertainment including The Kardashian’s, Omorosa, Hulk Hogan and many more. You should have seen the lines for pictures!
Scott Seward, our President, and I attended to support our partners and keep tabs on the latest developments in the cable industry. One particularly hot topic this year was EBIF, the industry supported Enhanced Binary Interchange Format being integrated into Comcast’s Xfinity Remote and other devices. There was also a lively general session that brought together CEOs of from top cable, tech and entertainment companies for a discussion on evolving business models. The panel emphasized the importance of ensuring that technology not be a barrier to content creators. If you missed the show, don’t fret: many of the individual sessions are recapped on the Cable Show Blog.

This week is the kick off to the 16th annual Los Angeles Film Festival. The festival is running from June 17th to the 27th and this time around it’s located all around downtown LA with over 200 feature films, documentaries, shorts and music videos to screen.
Typically every year I try and catch at least one or two films at the fest. In year’s past I’ve seen such films as Hump Day, Choke and Paper or Plastic. The music video collections are always fun too. They remind me of the days when I would watch MTV and they’d actually show music videos!

We have quite a few gamers at Tuesday Creative and we’ve been addicted to Activision’s Modern Warefare 2 game since it hit stores last year. So, 12 of us got together at the office a couple Saturdays ago to connect our PS3’s and have a good old fashion LAN party (that’s Local Area Network for the newbies out there). We spent the better part of the day showing off our moves on the virtual battlefield, with frequent breaks for pizza and beer. Andrew “LadyRain” Seles and Chris “SirDukeChristof” Moore were the standout players; I would have played better but my joystick was malfunctioning ;-p. Stay tuned for coverage of a rematch in the not too-distant future!
