We are proud to share with you our very own creation, Kandoobi Animals! It is a children’s activity app Tuesday concepted, designed and developed that is now available in the App Store. It was first launched in February for iPad, and after receiving positive feedback (it has a five star rating!), we next upgraded it to a universal app now available for download on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

This 4-in-1 app features coloring, character matching and simple spelling activities designed for children ages 18 months to five years old. It stars over 100 charming animal, bug and reptile characters with everything from bears and bees to blowfish and badgers. The app offers an engaging environment for parents and children to play together and is also simple enough for the little ones to enjoy on their own.

While Kandoobi has been a fun creative project for the team, it has also given us opportunities to refine our app UI design, development and marketing talents to better serve our client partners. We are also big fans of developing universal apps. A universal app is a single app that is optimized for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad devices. Universal apps give users multiple apps for the price of one since; instead of downloading and buying a “regular” version and an “HD” version, users only make one app purchase for all their account devices. Another bonus of universal app development is that we only have to design, build and test a single program, leading to both time and budget efficiencies.

Kandoobi Animals has been well received by parents, kids and mommy bloggers alike. We invite you to enjoy Kandoobi too! Visit the App Store and download today!

Every year, all the big game developers flex their muscles and showcase their latest and greatest at E3, held at the Los Angeles Convention Center downtown.  And this year was no different.  The biggest splash was made by Nintendo as they unveiled their newest console, the Wii U.

DIRECTV

As a long time fan and subscriber, one of the best things about DIRECTV is their customer service. It shows the first time you pick up the phone to order service or ask a question about your receiver. Part of what makes their customer service so great is made possible by online training courses made available to their thousands of reps. Reps can log into the training sessions, get current on DIRECTV messaging, and even earn prizes by completing courses. We recently helped DIRECTV expand their library of online training modules with a 5 minute animated overview of the “On Boarding” process that describes the first 90 days of a new customer’s experience. After watching the animated overview, reps are invited to play a special game that not only reinforces the themes of the lesson, but also works as a reward for completing the training. Tuesday provided animations, copy editing, voiceover and created a new game that reinforces the training and will keep learning fun.

e3

Back in the PlayStation 1 days, E3 was a totally happening event, full of game demos, elaborate booth designs and tons of freebies.  Each year since then, it has dwindled in size, finally bottoming out a couple years ago to relatively small airplane hangar in Santa Monica.  Fortunately, E3 has returned to its roots as a sensory overload event.  Each platform had something new to brag about.  The XBOX Kinect motion controller was a big hit, with ridiculous lines to try it.  The new Nintendo DS booth was so jammed with people; you had to wait just to get in and then wait again to play anything.   The PlayStation Move controller will also be a fun addition for PS3 owners, and will be instantly familiar to those familiar with the Wii.  Each exhibitor clearly didn’t cheap out on their booth designs, with special effects, costumes and elaborate architecture.  It was a great time and well worth the time and train ride downtown.  See you next year!

Rock Band 3 will have an incredible 83-song setlist, as well as support for your current RB music library (Rock Band and Rock Band 2 discs, DLC, track packs, AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack, LEGO Rock Band, and Green Day: Rock Band). In addition to bigger and better graphics and a brand new setlist, the standout upgrade for RB3 has to be the addition of a Keyboard! Until now Rock Band songs have intentionally excluded keyboard-centric songs, but rest assured they are more than making up for that with songs like “Sister Christian” , “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Break on Through”, and “The Power of Love”. Yah, that’s right Steve – “The Power of Love”, that’s what we have!

Who knew he could “Master” such heartfelt vocals? Check out Master Chief singing “One more snipe, gimme one more snipe” and “I can feel it comin’ in the air tonight, HALO.”  My old pal Jon Watts is one of the founding fathers of Waverly Films, and I recently discovered this among many hilarious gems on their YouTube channel, Waverly Flams. Other favorites: Hollywood Pitch, Wizards Meetup and Pick Up the Phone.

LAN Party

We have quite a few gamers at Tuesday Creative and we’ve been addicted to Activision’s Modern Warefare 2 game since it hit stores last year.  So, 12 of us got together at the office a couple Saturdays ago to connect our PS3’s and have a good old fashion LAN party (that’s Local Area Network for the newbies out there).  We spent the better part of the day showing off our moves on the virtual battlefield, with frequent breaks for pizza and beer.  Andrew “LadyRain” Seles and Chris “SirDukeChristof” Moore were the standout players; I would have played better but my joystick was malfunctioning ;-p.  Stay tuned for coverage of a rematch in the not too-distant future!

A couple months back my love of board games compelled me to give away a copy of Settlers of Catan for our holiday gift exchange. Steven Running won it – coincidentally he had just read a Wall Street Journal article about it and was eager to try it out.  At its heart, Settlers is a trading and resource management game, distantly similar to Monopoly or maybe Farmville. You roll the dice, grab property and build structures (a little like Monopoly hotels) and then make deals with other players.  It’s got a bit of a learning curve, but rapidly becomes addictive.  Wii lunch breaks have taken a backseat to ongoing Catan matches.
